Washington, DC – The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine (MITM) at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences has built a strong tradition of scientific inquiry through both basic and translational research, significantly advancing the study of the world’s most devastating infectious diseases. In support of its mission and research vision, the department was awarded a major grant, a $15.6 million NIH infrastructure project to build and enhance the laboratories and expand its basic and translational research activities in its new state-of the-art research space.  The MITM department is approximately 34,000 SF in size that consists of Open Labs, Tissue Culture Rooms, Radioactive Chemical Room, Lifecycle Rooms, +4C Cold Room, -20 and -80 Freezer Room, Fume Hood Alcoves, Autoclave/ Glasswash Room, Fermentation Room, Lab Support Storage, Equipment Room, Dark Room/ Autodeveloper, Faculty Offices, Post Doc Offices, and Conference/Seminar Rooms.
